Our Administrative Assistant shall perform a variety of office support duties and activities which contribute to efficient operations and develop an intimate understanding of County 17, our related entities, and procedures, as well as provide general information and assistance to co-workers and business stakeholders.
Depending upon experience, this position can be one of Office Manager. For applicants with lower qualifications, this position will be part time (approximately 20 hours per week). Those with higher qualifications may be considered for full-time employment (approximately 30 to 40 hours per week depending upon experience and desire of applicant).
The Administrative Assistant/Office Manager position works closely with company leadership and has a large role in our County 17 culture. The work of this position directly supports other staff and is critical to our nimble team of over achievers. We want employees that exercise good judgement and can make independent decisions.
Example duties, include, but are not limited to: (a) Receive calls and visitors; answer questions and provide information; route phone calls and take messages as appropriate; (b) Type, proofread, and word process routine documents; take and transcribe information as required; (c) Receive, open, review, sort, date stamp, and distribute office mail; (d) Operate modern office machines and equipment including PCs, printers, copiers, postage meters, and fax machines; routine use of office software applications; (e) Perform routine bookkeeping duties; collect and receipt money; issue receipts; maintain record of transactions; (f) Order and inventory supplies as assigned; (g) Perform a variety of general clerical duties including maintaining and filing records, verifying accuracy of information and recording information; (h) Adhere to office practices and procedures; (i) Assist in a variety of department operations; perform special projects and assignments as requested; (j) Assist in the development of forms, worksheets, and record keeping systems for the collection, dissemination, and maintenance of information; and (k) Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
An understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of software is beneficial.

County 17 is seeking a journalist focusing on local news to inform and engage a community of online readers on the happenings in Gillette and Campbell County, Wyoming. The successful applicant will cover community news by contributing locally relevant content across the brand’s digital media platforms several times daily, including weekends and some holidays.
At County 17, our approach is always free (no pay walls here) and local first – we are the only free, dedicated online publication in northeastern Wyoming. Our readers look to us to tell them what is happening next door and down the block rather than across the state or around the world.
The ideal candidate will: (a) share our drive and passion for accurate, timely reporting; (b) possess a bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent experience; (c) possess an intimate familiarity with writing in AP style; (d) be able to produce suitable photos and videos to accompany news coverage; (e) know how to cultivate sources and develop relationships with local government officials, community leaders, law enforcement, and other community organizations; (f) be available from Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends required; and (g) be able to adhere to deadlines.
Our ideal candidate will be well-written, hard-working, able to source and generate original news topics and stories with a proven ability to cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with readers, local government officials, community leaders, law enforcement, and other community organizations.
This position will report directly to the News Director with a dotted line to the company principal. The goal for this position is to support the growth of our digital audience(s) by seeking out and generating local news topics and content in both written and visual forms. Must be competent or willing and able to learn across varied social media platforms. WordPress knowledge is a plus.
