Theft, April 7, Alex Way, GPD
A 41-year-old man called the police around 10:26 a.m. to report suspected theft, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The man said that he paid thousands of dollars to a person in Kentucky for collector sports jerseys and that he had not received them. The investigation is ongoing.
Hit-and-run, April 7, Industrial Park Drive, GPD
Officers responded to Industrial Park Drive around 3:14 p.m. to investigate a hit-and-run report, Wasson said. A city employee reportedly found a fire hydrant that had been knocked off its base and was lying on the ground. A nearby witness reported the hydrant had been that way for two weeks, and officers estimated the damage at $285.
Breach of peace, April 7, Edwards Street, GPD
A 17-year-old boy called the police at 9:05 p.m. to report another 17-year-old boy tried to start a fight at the Gillette Fishing Lake, Wasson said. The reporting party said he was sitting in a vehicle with his 17-year-old girlfriend. The other boy approached while yelling profanities and tried to get the 17-year-old out of the car to fight. The boy reported driving away to avoid conflict. No enforcement action was taken by officers.
Drugs, April 8, Primrose Drive, CCSO
Deputies found a 24-year-old man with a stolen 2025 Toyota Camry on Primrose Drive around 1:51 a.m., Undersheriff Reynolds said. The vehicle was reported stolen in March, and deputies located a THC vape cartridge in the man’s pocket after taking him into custody. He was charged with felony theft and misdemeanor drug possession.
