CCSD1 trustees to discuss contracts, bids at Tuesday meeting

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County School District 1 trustees will kick off Tuesday’s meeting with a celebration of the Thunder Basin High School Boys Wrestling Team and the Campbell County High School Boys Basketball Team for their recent 4A State Championships.

The Board of Trustees is set to host its regular meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Educational Services Center, 1000 W. 8th St. in Gillette. The agenda includes discussions and potential approvals for various contracts, bids for school projects and student-related matters. A recording of the public meeting will be available on GPA-TV 189 within a few days.

Following the celebrations, Rawhide Elementary Principal Dane Weaver will present academic reports for Rawhide and Recluse elementary schools. The reports will include updates on enrollment, state assessment scores, school performance ratings and improvement goals.

Board chair Lisa Durgin is expected to make appointments of trustees to several committees, including the Policy Committee, Campbell County High School Planning Committee, Board of Cooperative Educational Services Committee and Wright Junior Senior High School Turf Field Committee.

The board’s consent agenda for the evening includes several items for potential approval with a single vote. Among these are:

  • Human resource actions, including rehires, new hires, transfers, resignations and terminations for educational support personnel and certified staff.
  • Consideration of several bids and quotes for various district projects:
    • A renewal for FirstClass Email services with Opentext for $33,283.84. The renewal would cover May 1, 2025, through April 30, 2026.
    • The award for the Lakeway Learning Center Concourse Remodel base bid and alternate to Norton Construction for $402,903.
    • The award for a new lawn sweeper for the Maintenance Department to Stotz Equipment for $51,650.
    • The award for the Meadowlark Elementary Gym Lighting Upgrade to Tucker Electric for $19,990.
    • The award for the Rozet Elementary Lighting Upgrade – Phase II to Scott Brothers Electric Inc. for $367,459.
    • The award for the Sage Valley Junior High School Kitchen Remodel to Norton Construction for $673,650.
    • The award for the Twin Spruce Junior High School Domestic Water Upgrade to Powder River Heating & Air Conditioning for $299,850.
    • The award for Wagonwheel Elementary Playground Improvements Concrete Alternate 1 to Simon Contractors for $970,565.
    • The award for a new cutter for the Print Shop to Print & Finishing Solutions for $39,465.50, including a surplus of an old cutter.

Several contracts and agreements are also on the consent agenda for potential approval. They include:

  • A Special Education agreement with Boys Town for Specialized Classroom Management Training and a digital subscription service, totaling $16,937.25. The training is scheduled for July 21–24.
  • A Professional Development Purchase Agreement with Marzano Resources for $8,100. The agreement includes a speaker, Mario Acosta, to disseminate information on Safe, Supportive and Engaging School Culture on Aug. 13, 2026.
  • A Lakeview Elementary Book Fair Agreement with Scholastic Book Fairs.
  • Student Portrait Agreements with Inter-State Studio for the 2025–26 school year for Cottonwood Elementary School and 4-J Elementary School. Timberline Photography LLC, an independently owned franchise of Inter-State Studio Franchise LLC, will provide the services.
  • Addenda to Special Education contracts with Northeast Wyoming Board of Cooperative Educational Services and Powder River Basin Children’s Center. One addendum, dated Feb. 10, increases a contract by $2,970 for remaining counseling services. Another, dated April 3, adds $89,740 for additional residential and 1:1 aide services effective April 22.
  • A Special Education Related Services Agreement for Students with Disabilities, effective from April 6 to June 30 for an amount not exceeding $3,500. The agreement covers a range of services including evaluation, therapy, counseling and other related support.
  • A Special Education Residential Services Agreement Out-of-State Placement with Liahona Academy.

Superintendent Alex Ayers is scheduled to review the proposed summer meeting schedule. Associate Superintendent of Instructional Support Dave Bartlett will provide updates on nutrition services meals, legislative matters and facility projects. Deputy Superintendent Kirby Eisenhauer will present an update on the Strategic Plan, and Director of Curriculum Brandon Crosby will review proposed textbook adoptions.
