Intermittent snow showers continue across Campbell County this week

(Dan Cepeda, Oil City File)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Halfway through the week, it does not appear the snow and rain showers occasionally popping up across the area are going to go anywhere for another few days. Today especially will see significant snowfall of up to 2 inches.

Most snowfall today will occur in the morning, which presents a 60% chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. Wednesday’s high will only get up to 36 degrees, but could feel as low as 19 with windchill caused by 14–17 mph winds. In total, 1–2 inches of snow accumulation is possible

Tonight will be somewhat milder as temps fall only to 25 and winds blow at a more gentle 6–8 mph.

By tomorrow, Gillette will begin enjoying a more seasonable high of 46 and 6–8 mph winds. That won’t last for long, though, as rain and snow will begin falling in the evening before snow fully takes over after 9 p.m. Tomorrow evening will be as cool as 25 degrees and see potentially as much as half an inch of new snow accumulation.

Temps will be somewhat lower by Friday, and the likelihood of snow falling in the daytime will reappear the final day of the workweek. Thankfully, Saturday and beyond should be the start of a warming trend to end a week of snow. See the detailed forecast below for more information.
