GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, April 1, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Suspicious activity, April 1, Highway 51, CCSO

Deputies responded to Highway 51 near Gold Buckle Place for a report of a woman passed out in a vehicle, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. They contacted a 20-year-old woman who suffered a seizure while operating a 2007 Jeep. She could not recall where she was or how she got there. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and evaluated the woman, whom an 18-year-old man eventually picked up.

CHINS, April 1, North Gurley Avenue, GPD

A Wyoming Department of Family Services employee called the police to report a 12-year-old boy broke the airbag cover on her 2017 Ford SUV, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The employee was attempting to transport the boy from the YES House following an altercation. Another DFS employee told officers that the boy became upset and struck her in the face after running away from the facility the previous evening. The boy was arrested for property destruction and battery.

Drugs, April 1, Bishop Road, CCSO

Deputies seized a black nylon pouch containing suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia shortly after 4:20 p.m., Reynolds said. The pouch was located in a parking lot on Bishop Road and deputies were unable to identify an owner. The pouch and its contents are to be destroyed.

Theft, April 1, RCS Court, CCSO

Staff at a machine shop called the sheriff’s office to report seeing a former employee listing a stolen Red-D-Arc Welder for sale on social media, Reynolds said. When deputies contacted the suspect, a 31-year-old man, they observed him in possession of the welder and arrested him for felony theft.

Drugs, April 1, Colorado Street, GPD

Officers responded to Colorado Street after a 40-year-old woman called to report suspected drug use by her 16-year-old son, Wasson said. The woman requested officers search her son’s room, and they located multiple THC vapes, cartridges and seven grams of suspected THC wax. The boy was not at the residence, and charges are currently pending.
