C17 Crime Clips for Monday, March 31

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, March 30, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Intoxication, March 28, Highway 14-16, GPD

Officers cited a 35-year-old man for intoxication after responding to a fueling station on North Highway 14-16 around noon, Gillette Police Capt. Jason Marcus said. The man was reportedly unable to speak or stand and had urinated. He was transported to Campbell County Health for evaluation.

Shoplifting, March 28, East Lakeway Road, GPD

Officers responded to a home improvement store on Lakeway Road around 4:34 p.m. March 28 for a shoplifting report. A 48-year-old man was reported for stealing a roll of copper wire valued at $350. He fled on foot and was located nearby. Officers reportedly located a single fentanyl pill during the investigation and arrested the man for shoplifting and felony drug possession.

Intoxication, March 28, West 2nd Street, GPD

Officers were dispatched to a hotel on West 2nd Street for a report of an intoxicated man around 11:15 March 28, Marcus said. They found a half-naked 35-year-old man in the lobby with lacerations on his face and a swollen left eye. He admitted to drinking and was transported to the hospital by emergency medical services after officers cited him for intoxication.

Intoxication, March 29, Highway 14-16, GPD

Officers were dispatched to a grocery store on Highway 14-16 around 1:13 p.m. March 29 for a report of an intoxicated man who was barely able to walk or talk, Marcus said. The man was reportedly asking about detox facilities and was extremely intoxicated when officers arrived. He was taken into custody for intoxication and officers transported him to the Campbell County Detention Center.

Theft, March 29, Wrangler Road, GPD

Marcus said two 15-year-old boys were warned for theft after they were witnessed stealing a small utility wagon from Wrangler Road around 6:12 p.m. March 29. The boys abandoned the wagon in a ditch and it had a bent wheel after it was recovered. The wagon was valued at $110; however, the owner, a 37-year-old man, didn’t want the boys charged.

Drugs, March 30, Highway 14-16, CCSO

Deputies arrested a 41-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man for drug possession following a Sunday night traffic stop on a red 2017 Ford Escape around 11:59 a.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. During the stop, the woman refused to exit the vehicle and was arrested for interference. A drug dog reportedly indicated there were drugs in the vehicle and a search yielded 44.23 grams of methamphetamine, 17.54 grams of cocaine, 13.83 grams of marijuana, two fentanyl pills, $300 in cash and paraphernalia. Both occupants were charged with four counts of drug possession.

DWUI, March 30, Highway 51, CCSO

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving with child passengers on Highway 51 after striking a sign around 9:38 p.m. March 30, Reynolds said. The woman reportedly left the roadway near Olsen Lane and Fairview Road and drove in the western ditch for a quarter-mile, striking the sign as she went. According to the report, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy were in the vehicle when deputies contacted the woman.

Property destruction, March 30, Express Drive, GPD

Officers responded to Express Drive around 10:03 p.m. after a 17-year-old boy called to report his Jeep was damaged by a 22-year-old man, Marcus said. The boy said he gave the 22-year-old man a ride following an argument between the older man and his wife. The 22-year-old attempted to assault the 17-year-old, who locked the doors and attempted to leave. The 22-year-old then struck the back window of the Jeep, causing less than $500 in damage. Officers are looking to contact the 22-year-old man.
