GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, March 12, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Animal cruelty, March 12, South Butler Spaeth Road, GPD

Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said animal control officers responded to a pet store on South Butler Spaeth Road after a citizen requested an animal welfare check around 9:29 a.m. When officers arrived, an inspection revealed a deceased bird, debris and feces in several cages. Water bowls for several reptiles were also dirty. The store owner, a 72-year-old woman, told officers the bird was alive at feeding time around 6 a.m. She was cited for animal cruelty and failing to remove feces.

Family fight, March 12, P J Road, CCSO

Deputies transported a 17-year-old girl to the YES House after she allegedly threw a chair at her 35-year-old mother and shoved her at around 5:16 p.m. on P J Road, Sheriff’s Office Capt. Paul Pownall said. Earlier the same day, the girl was issued citations for possessing nicotine and a controlled substance. Following the family fight investigation, the girl was cited for unlawful contact and deputies took her to the YES House.

Battery, March 12, West 1st Street, GPD

Officers responded to West 1st Street at 6:32 p.m. to investigate a battery report, Wasson said. A 44-year-old woman was accused of shoving a 19-year-old man to the ground and kicking him in the back, resulting in minor injuries. According to the report, the 44-year-old attacked the man while he was arguing with the woman’s 20-year-old daughter. The 44-year-old was cited for battery.
