GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, March 6, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Threats, March 6, West Lakeway Road, GPD

Officers responded to Sage Valley Junior High School around 6:28 a.m. to investigate threatening phone calls following a fight on March 5, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The fight was between two 14-year-old boys. One of them was suspended while the other was not. On March 6, the boy who wasn’t suspended received violent threats from two classmates supposedly in response to the other boy’s suspension. Two investigations are underway, one concerning the threats and another regarding the initial fight.

Fraud, March 6, Longhorn Drive, GPD

Wasson said a 50-year-old man called the police at 7:29 a.m. to report his Facebook account had been hacked. The man reported receiving inquiries from several of his friends asking if his account was hacked. His account was used in several posts in Marketplace where an individual was trying to sell items. The man said his email and password for the account were changed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Intoxication, March 6, West 2nd Street, GPD

Officers responded to a grocery store on West 2nd Street for a report of an intoxicated man sleeping in a women’s restroom around 3:33 p.m., Wasson said. They spoke with a highly intoxicated 34-year-old man and attempted to arrange a ride for him. The man’s family refused to pick him up and officers could not contact any of his friends. The man was taken into custody for intoxication and transported to the Campbell County Detention Center. While there, the man was advised about bringing drugs and alcohol into the jail. Once inside, a pint of vodka was discovered in his boot, resulting in a felony charge for bringing alcohol into jail.

Trespassing, March 6, Bella Colla Lane, GPD

A 40-year-old man was charged with criminal trespass after allegedly forcing his way into a residence on Bella Colla Lane around 10:57 p.m., Wasson said. The residence belonged to a 33-year-old woman who told officers the man began yelling and screaming at her while beating on her door. He reportedly smeared her doorbell camera with a taco and pushed his way past the woman when she opened the door to confront him. The woman’s daughter called 911 and dispatchers could hear the woman yelling at the man to leave her home. Officers located the man, who claimed he was trying to get his DoorDash card that was delivered to the woman’s home. He claimed the woman pulled him into her residence but his story didn’t match up with the call and other accounts. He was subsequently cited for criminal trespass.
