GILLETTE, Wyo. — On Tuesday, the Gillette City Council voted to approve a $200,000 project to improve drainage and maintenance access for a channel on Arlington Court.
The decision came during the council’s meeting on March 4, during which members voted to award Hladky Construction $200,266 to complete a project improving the drainage channel on Arlington Court and place a new drainage structure west of Cottonwood Park.
According to the City of Gillette, the project will help restrict flows exiting the pond and should slow the flow of stormwater into Cottonwood Park, which has a significant amount of water during large rain events.
The project will also improve cleaning and maintenance equipment access by upgrading the existing sidewalk and boulevard areas. A new ramp will be constructed to provide better access to the low-flow channel and allow maintenance crews to clean the entire channel more easily and safely.
Per the city, construction activity will be restricted to the channel area and any impact on neighboring properties should be minimal, with the project avoiding removing any existing sidewalls or retaining walls.
