Gillette City Hall (County 17)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — After years of development, the city of Gillette has released a draft of its proposed comprehensive plan that, when finalized, will guide policy decisions in the coming years.

Released on March 5, the draft plan has been in development since 2023. It is the result of two years of public input that will now be used to provide an overall snapshot of the community and a vision for the future, according to the city.

Once finalized, the plan will guide city policy, budgeting and other decision-making, per the city.

As of March 5, the preliminary draft is under review by city representatives, the Gillette City Council, the City Planning Commission and the city’s Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.

According to the city, comments from these representatives will be finalized and submitted to the consultant, Verdunity, which will incorporate them into a final drive in early April.

Upon completion, the final draft will be considered by the Planning Commission at its regular meeting on April 8, during which a public hearing is scheduled to obtain public feedback.

A second public hearing will take place on April 15 for additional public feedback, after which the council will consider formally adopting the Comprehensive Plan.
