GILLETTE, Wyo. — Tonight, the Gillette City Council will decide whether to award a nearly $568,000 project bid to repair street surfaces for multiple roadways on Force Road later this year.
According to the City of Gillette, the project will include improving street surfacing on Force Road between Dade Road and Hidden Valley Road. It will also include a section of Tory Lane in the Doud Ranch Subdivision.
The decision to repair the street surfacing was made based on information gathered from the city’s PAVER program, which takes in surface distress based on an inspection. The streets were identified as good candidates for a roto mill and overlay surface improvement, the city says.
Repairing the street surfacing will improve surface smoothness by addressing cracks and irregularities while extending the life of the pavement by a decade. Per the city, it is a less expensive option whereas the alternative would require reconstructing the entire roadway.
The project is expected to begin this summer, with a completion date scheduled in the fall.
