LARAMIE, Wyo. — It’s about the journey, not the destination. The University of Wyoming Cowboys basketball team is closing up its season and just played its final home game of the year in the Arena-Auditorium last night. For many in the Pokes’ roster, last night was also likely their last time playing on that hallowed ground.
For a full game analysis, see the University of Wyoming Athletics web page. The need-to-know info is that a hard-fought game and a near comeback resulted in a 72–69 loss against the San Diego State University Aztecs.
Obi Agbim, who has been the de-facto face of the team for the Cowboys all season, put up 21 points and six rebounds. Last night’s game was also his 10th putting up 20 or more points. Dontaie Allen came second in points with 16.
Those two were both celebrated for their year’s worth of effort, as last night was senior night for the Pokes. Also celebrated were seniors Touko Tainamo, Jordan Nesbitt, Cort Roberson, Kobe Newton and Cole Henry. These players have been a part of the best moments of Cowboy basketball this year and have certainly left a mark on the program.
Last night was also the final home game for freshman coach Sundance Wicks, who has so far led his Pokes to a 12–18 overall record. The season isn’t over yet, though, and Wicks still has a long future on the Wyoming sidelines ahead of him.
In honor of those players who chose to put on the brown and gold and get out there on the court for the University of Wyoming every night, see below the final gallery of the UW men’s basketball team’s 2024–2025 season.
