From Sunday to Wednesday, local temperatures aren’t expected to get much warmer than just 10 degrees. Sunday and Monday’s forecasts call for highs of 10, while Tuesday and Wednesday will only see highs of 3 and 6 degrees, respectively.
Lows will fall into the negatives each night, and the NWS in Rapid City reports that windchills could makes conditions feel as cold as minus 19.
Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors if possible, and to dress in layers and cover extremities when going out in the cold. If on the road, people should ensure they have a winter survival kit in their vehicle.
