GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Feb. 6, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Intoxication, Feb. 6, South Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers were dispatched to a bar on South Douglas Highway around 12:26 p.m. after bar staff called to report an intoxicated man throwing rocks at their building, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. They gave officers an empty bottle of vodka and identified a 42-year-old man walking on South Douglas Highway. He allegedly bought the bottle at another liquor store and went to buy more at the bar. When bar staff denied service, the man became upset and threw rocks. Officers attempted to find the man a safe ride home and ultimately arrested him for intoxication and having an open container.

Hit-and-run, Feb. 6, South Douglas Highway, GPD

A 26-year-old man called the police at 1:18 p.m. after finding damage on his 2024 Subaru, Wasson said. According to the report, the Subaru was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked at a South Douglas Highway hotel between Feb. 2 and Feb. 6. The investigation is ongoing.

Property destruction, Feb. 6, Borderline Road, CCSO

Deputies responded to Borderline Road at 5:45 p.m. to investigate suspected property destruction, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Someone allegedly broke a mailbox post and may have taken a solar light, valued at $280. There are no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft, Feb. 6, Coal Train Road, CCSO

A 37-year-old man called deputies from Coal Train Road at 6:32 p.m. to report suspected theft, Reynolds said. The man said he gave a 31-year-old woman permission to take $200 from his Cash App account while he was incarcerated. He learned she allegedly took over $1,000 and discovered his safe had been broken into. The investigation is ongoing.
