GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Feb. 4, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Property destruction, Feb. 4, Garner Lake Road, GPD

Officers responded to the Energy Capital Sports Complex after city parks employees reported a damaged fence around 10:49 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The damage to the fence was estimated at over $1,000. Surveillance showed a vehicle spinning circles in the parking lot before losing control and crashing into the fence. Officers found the vehicle parked at the nearby Aquatic Center and contacted the driver, a 50-year-old man. He admitted to causing the damage and was cited for hit-and-run.

Drugs, Feb. 4, Express Drive, CCSO

Deputies arrested a 34-year-old man for drug possession after discovering 78 grams of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia in his Express Drive apartment around 3:25 p.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. A food service delivery driver approached a deputy parked on Glock Avenue and Southern Drive, reporting that an apartment smelled of marijuana. When deputies responded to the apartment, they could smell marijuana and contacted a 34-year-old man. He surrendered a grinder, glass pipe and three packages of suspected marijuana. Following his arrest, deputies found a vape pen with a THC label in the man’s pocket.

Drugs, Feb. 4, Butler Spaeth Road, CCSO

Overnight, a 31-year-old woman was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop on a white Lincoln driving without a license plate light, Reynolds said. Deputies could reportedly smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and discovered a bottle containing THC crystals and several psilocybin mushroom gummies. The 31-year-old woman, a passenger, claimed ownership and was subsequently taken into custody.
