GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Jan. 28, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Hit-and-run, Jan. 28, Gillette Avenue, GPD
A 57-year-old man called the police at 10:45 a.m. to report a hit-and-run involving his vehicle on Gillette Avenue, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The man said his vehicle, a 2023 GMC, was struck by an unknown suspect while parked and unoccupied. The damage was estimated at $1,000, and there are no suspects.
Breach of peace, Jan. 28, South Garner Lake Road, GPD
Officers responded to South Garner Lake Road for a report of a man brandishing a firearm at another man during a traffic dispute, Wasson said. A 21-year-old man said the incident happened at the intersection of Miranda Avenue and Harvest Moon Drive. He claimed a 45-year-old man ran a stop sign and brandished a firearm at him after the 21-year-old exited his vehicle to yell at him. When officers contacted the 45-year-old man, the “firearm” was found to be a cellphone.
Property destruction, Jan. 28, Wagon Wheel Drive, CCSO
Deputies responded to Wagon Wheel Drive to investigate a suspicious activity report. Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. According to the report, a woman said 10 tires had been cut on multiple vehicles. Deputies noted blood on some of the tires and a vehicle. Deputies collected a blood sample, and the investigation is ongoing.
Trespassing, Jan. 28, East 5th Street, GPD
The owner of a mobile home park on East 5th Street called the police after reportedly finding a 40-year-old woman on the property after previously being trespassed around 4:09 p.m., Wasson said. Officers confirmed a previous trespass warning and cited the 40-year-old for criminal trespass.
Drugs, Jan. 28, Stanley Avenue, GPD
Officers arrested a 35-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man for drug possession after responding to marijuana complaints at an apartment complex on Stanley Avenue around 5:14 p.m., Wasson said. When they arrived, officers could smell the odor of marijuana while speaking with the two apartment residents. After being allowed inside, officers allegedly located 11.5 grams of suspected marijuana and .5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. The woman claimed the meth while the man claimed the marijuana. Both of them were subsequently taken into custody.
