C17 Crime Clips for Thursday, Jan. 23

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Jan. 22, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Crash, Jan. 22, Highway 59, GPD

Officers responded to the Interstate 90 off-ramp at Highway 59 for a report of a two-vehicle collision around 7:27 a.m., Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. A 26-year-old woman operating a 2021 Jeep slid through the intersection and crashed into a 2023 Kia operated by an unidentified woman. The crash resulted in over $1,000 in damage, no injuries and no citations.

Crash, Jan. 22, Fitzpatrick Court, GPD

A 49-year-old woman was cited for improper backing after she allegedly backed her 2010 Ford pickup into a U.S. Postal Service van on Fitzpatrick Court around 7:34 a.m., Wasson said. The woman was reportedly backing out of a driveway and didn’t see the post office vehicle.

Minor in possession, Jan. 22, Robin Drive, GPD

Officers responded to Robin Drive for a report of vodka being found in a 16-year-old girl’s bedroom around 9:50 a.m., Wasson said. According to the report, the vodka was located by the girl’s grandmother, who promptly contacted law enforcement. The 16-year-old was cited for possessing alcohol while under 21.

Crash, Jan. 22, 6th Street, GPD

A juvenile was transported to the hospital for head and neck pain following a two-vehicle crash at 6th Street and Osborne Avenue around 3 p.m., Wasson said. A 20-year-old woman reportedly turned left in front of an oncoming 2009 Ford pickup operated by a 49-year-old woman. The vehicles collided, resulting in over $1,000 in damage and a potential leg injury for the older woman. The 20-year-old was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

Intoxication, Jan. 22, South Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers arrested a 36-year-old woman for intoxication following an incident at a hotel on South Douglas Highway around 5:34 p.m., Wasson said. The woman was reported for being heavily intoxicated and staff wanted her trespassed from the property. The woman acknowledged the request but didn’t leave and attempted to contact staff members while officers were there. She was subsequently taken into custody.
