Authorities investigating ‘suspicious letter containing a potential white powder’ sent to Campbell County Courthouse

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Fire Department recently announced that it responded to a hazardous materials Incident at the Campbell County Courthouse on Tuesday.

That’s according to a release from the fire department, which stated that, at approximately 11:31 a.m., the CCFD was dispatched to the Campbell County Courthouse after receiving a report of a “suspicious letter containing a potential white powder substance.”

According to the release, CCFD responded to the scene and processed the incident according to its established hazardous materials protocol.

“Our response was conducted in coordination with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, the Wyoming Department of Homeland Security, Campbell County Emergency Management, and Campbell County Public Health,” the release states. “All appropriate agencies were promptly notified and involved.”

The release states that the situation is being investigated by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and that no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

“We would like to thank our local, state, and county partners for their collaboration and swift action to ensure public safety,” the release states.

County 17 has reached out to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office for more information and will update this story as more details become available.
