GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Jan. 15, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Intoxication, Jan. 15, Butler Spaeth Road, GPD
Officers responded to Butler Spaeth Road at 5:20 p.m. for a report of a 34-year-old man falling and yelling at passing cars, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The man was intoxicated and his mother initially agreed to give him a ride home. She changed her mind after one of the man’s outbursts. In a vehicle, the man pulled out a bottle of peppermint schnapps and began drinking it. The man was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody for intoxication and open container.
Battery, Jan. 15, East 7th Street, GPD
A 14-year-old boy was cited for assault and battery and breach of peace after allegedly attacking a principal at Twin Spruce Junior High School around 2:53 p.m., Wasson said. The boy was given detention for his behavior during lunch. He became aggressive and began using foul language. The principal attempted to deescalate the situation when the boy attacked, forcing the principal to restrain him.
