LARAMIE, Wyo. — Two-time All American and Wyoming football legend Ryan Yarborough is set to join the annals of history as the third-ever Cowboy entered into the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame.

The announcement came today as 21 other individuals from across the storied history of college ball were selected alongside Yarborough. The receiver will join just two other Cowboys: Jay Novacek and Eddie Talboom.

About Yarborough

Yarborough was the University of Wyoming’s first player to be All American twice, which he earned in 1992 and 1993 for leading the entire NCAA in receiving yards. Those two years, he received for 1,351 and 1,512 yards, respectively, according to UW Athletics.

In his era, he received the most career yards out of anyone in college football history — 4,357 yards. Today, that still stands as the ninth highest.

He also led the country in 200-yard receiving games, 1,000-yard receiving years and games catching a TD pass, according to UW Athletics.

Yarborough also still holds the record for yards per reception, having averaged 19 yards across 229 catches. With Yarborough on the team, the Cowboys were able to capture the WAC conference championship title in 1993.

Come time for the NFL draft, he was selected in the second round by the New York Jets. Across six seasons, Yarborough would also play for the Packers, Ravens and Saints.

According to the University of Wyoming, Yarborough currently lives in the Houston area as a coach and business consultant.

Next fall, he will be celebrated in person in Laramie as part of a ceremony celebrating all inductees nationwide. He will be immortalized at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Georgia and will also receive a custom ring.
