C17 Crime Clips for Tuesday, Jan. 14

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Jan. 13, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Domestic assault, Jan. 13, Saunders Boulevard, GPD

Officers responded to Thunder Basin High School for a report of a 51-year-old man striking his 19-year-old daughter in the parking lot around 2:12 p.m., Gillette Police Capt. Kelly Alger said. The man was allegedly upset over his daughter driving with juveniles in her vehicle. He pushed her, grabbed ahold of her and struck her ear, causing pain. When confronted by officers, the man didn’t deny his actions and had a small cut on his hand from when he grabbed his daughter. The man was arrested for domestic assault.

Theft, Jan. 13, Clarion Drive, GPD

A 60-year-old woman on Clarion Drive called the police at 3:58 p.m. to report a theft, Alger said. Someone allegedly stole a GoPro, Nikon Camera and Hitachi camcorder. The woman said she last saw the items in 2023 and discovered them missing in 2024. The items were valued at $1,250, and the investigation is ongoing.

Stalking, Jan. 13, West 2nd Street, GPD

Officers responded to West 2nd Street at 6:06 p.m. to investigate a stalking report, Alger said. A 45-year-old woman said a 42-year-old man was harassing and stalking her. She turned over Ring videos of the man making rude gestures at her camera and told officers it has been an ongoing issue since 2024. Attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful, and the investigation is ongoing.

Child abuse, Jan. 13, Elon Avenue, GPD

Officers arrested a 34-year-old man for felony child abuse after responding to a report of him bruising a 4-year-old boy’s buttocks on Elon Avenue around 8:30 p.m., Alger said. A 35-year-old woman, the boy’s mother, told officers her boyfriend had assaulted her son. The man said he spanked the boy harder than he should have approximately five times. He said he was upset at the boy for wetting the bed, and officers took him into custody.
