GILLETTE, Wyo. — A woman was arrested for felony child abuse this past weekend after allegedly striking her boyfriend’s son, choking him and dragging him by the shirt in December, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said Monday.
Officers were dispatched to an East 5th Street residence around 5:10 p.m. Jan. 3 to investigate a report claiming Autumn Titel, 32, had physically abused and injured her boyfriend’s 9-year-old son, Wasson said, adding that the report did not make it clear who filed the initial complaint.
The alleged incident is believed to have occurred on Dec. 31 after Titel became frustrated with the boy and struck him several times on the head with an open hand, per Wasson. She then dragged the boy by his shirt and restricted his breathing by wrapping her hands around his throat before covering his mouth with tape.
The boy had bruising on his neck and shoulders. Titel admitted to causing the injuries and being involved in the altercation when confronted by officers, according to Wasson. She was taken into custody for felony child abuse and the boy was left in the care of his father, who was not named in the report.
