GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette over the weekend, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Theft, Jan. 3, Arrowhead Drive, GPD
Officers were dispatched to Arrowhead Drive around 1:40 p.m. after a 55-year-old man called to report his 2-gallon gas can missing, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The gas can allegedly went missing on Jan. 2 and is valued at $20.
Intoxication, Jan. 3, West Warlow Drive, GPD
A 22-year-old man was cited for intoxication while his parents were both cited for open container following the younger man’s report that his father threatened his mother around 8:02 p.m., Wasson said. The 22-year-old described an altercation that took place while the three of them drove to Gillette from Moorcroft. According to the report, the 45-year-old mother and 55-year-old father had open alcohol containers in a 1997 Buick. The 22-year-old man initiated an altercation with the 55-year-old man and wrapped his arms around his neck while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic signal. Officers located the Buick and stopped it, after which they had the 55-year-old man perform field sobriety tests. He was not impaired and received an open container citation along with the 45-year-old woman. The 22-year-old admitted to consuming psilocybin mushrooms and requested to be taken to the hospital for evaluation. Officers cited him for intoxication and the man was transported by emergency medical personnel.
Drugs, Jan. 4, Gurley Avenue, GPD
Officers arrested a 32-year-old woman for possessing methamphetamine after they stopped her in a 2001 Toyota for no registration around 1:08 a.m., Wasson said. During the stop, a drug dog indicated on the vehicle and officers uncovered a jeweler’s bag containing a gram of meth. The woman was subsequently taken into custody.
Drugs, Jan. 4, Madison Street, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 33-year-old man for drug possession and driving under suspension following a Jan. 4 traffic stop near Madison Street and Highway 59 around 1:38 a.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. According to the report, the man was stopped for speeding and improperly changing lanes in a 1997 Ford F-150. During the stop, a deputy could smell marijuana and located 7 grams on the dashboard. Additionally, the deputy located less than .3 grams of liquid THC liquid in a vape cartridge and took the man into custody.
Intoxication, Jan. 4, Highway 59, GPD
A 19-year-old woman was arrested for intoxication after she was found walking on the roadway and shouting near Shoshone Avenue on Highway 59 around 11:45 a.m., Wasson said. The woman was obviously intoxicated and was not dressed for the weather. After being detained, she allegedly attempted to kick an officer and had a vaping device in her possession. Wasson said she was arrested for consuming alcohol and possessing tobacco while under the age of 21. She was also charged with interference.
Runaway, Jan. 4, Maple Avenue, GPD
Officers arrested a 13-year-old girl for theft after she allegedly ran away from home on Maple Avenue around 6:04 p.m., Wasson said. The girl was located in Walmart, where she is accused of stealing hair dye, cutting her hair and dyeing her hair in a bathroom. She was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Theft, Jan. 5, Overbrook Road, CCSO
A resident called the sheriff’s office at 10:59 a.m. after receiving a fraud alert regarding several transactions totaling over $950 made by an unknown individual, Reynolds said. The resident received the alert while returning from vacation; the transactions were all made in Gillette stores. The investigation is ongoing.
