GILLETTE, Wyo. — Two weeks after fleeing from furlough, a woman wanted for escaping detention remains on the lam with an active warrant for her arrest, Sheriff Scott Matheny said Friday.
Tayla McGrady, 32, is considered an escapee from official detention after allegedly failing to return to the Campbell County Detention Center following her temporary release on Dec. 19, according to Matheny.
At the time of her temporary release, McGrady was being held on charges consisting of bond revocation, child endangerment and drug possession. Her conditional release was granted by District Court Judge Michael J. McGrady for a doctor’s appointment.
According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, McGrady was only allowed outside the detention center from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 19. Matheny wasn’t sure if McGrady was supposed to be in the custody of someone else while at her doctor’s appointment.
She failed to return to the detention center as required, and the sheriff’s office suspected at the time that she could be heading for Arizona. As of Jan. 3, McGrady has not been located and there is an active warrant for her arrest.
