GILLETTE, Wyo. — Vitalant will hold a blood drive in Gillette later this month in support of National Blood Donor Month, the nonprofit announced Monday.
According to Vitalant, the blood drive will take place on Jan. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Campbell County Recreation Center, 250 W. Shoshone Ave. The drive is one of dozens scheduled to take place across Wyoming and South Dakota this month, with the nonprofit urging all who are eligible to start the year with a lifesaving donation.
“Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those who have type O blood or donate platelets,” Vitalant said. “Type O is the most transfused and what doctors turn to most in emergencies. Platelets, which often help cancer patients, must be used within a week of donation.”
Per Vitalant, everyone who donates blood between Jan. 8 and Jan. 31 will automatically be entered into the Thrive in ‘25 Giveaway, where three people will be awarded a $10,000 prepaid gift card.
The three winners will be selected through a random drawing on or around Feb. 6, according to Vitalant.
