GILLETTE, Wyo. — The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, is expecting a relatively calm and mild New Year’s Eve for the Gillette area. Gillette could, however, see some flurries in the morning and afternoon.
Today’s high will be 27 degrees with windchill values making it potentially feel as low as 13 degrees. Winds will blow at between 5 and 9 mph, but could occasionally reach 16 mph.
As for the moments leading right up to the New Year, Gillette’s low is 10 degrees. The wind, though, should calm to only about 6 mph, while a rogue gust could hit 15 mph.
2025 will begin partly sunny with a high of 28 degrees. Winds will blow irregularly at 6 mph before calming down almost entirely by evening, which has a low temp of 9 degrees.
Daily highs will continue to sit in the high-20s to low-30s range for the rest of the week until Sunday, when the high will fall to 24 degrees. Chances of snow are likely to return sooner, around Friday, and last through the weekend.
