GILLETTE, Wyo. — City animal control officers cited a man for poisoning animals the afternoon of Dec. 26 after his alleged actions resulted in the deaths of six cats, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said Friday.
According to the report, ACO responded to North Butler Spaeth Road around 1:14 p.m. Dec. 26 to investigate a report of cats that appeared to have died under suspicious circumstances.
The investigation revealed an 18-year-old man placed a pan of antifreeze outside and the deceased cats ingested it. While the initial report stated two animals had died, the latest information has upped that number to six, according to Wasson.
Per the report, the 18-year-old admitted to putting out a pan of antifreeze, though he allegedly told officers he didn’t mean to kill the cats. He was cited for poisoning animals.
The report did not specify why the man placed the pan outside. Wasson said the Gillette Police Department will not release additional information on the incident with charges being filed.
