GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Dec. 26, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Crash, Dec. 26, Cameo Court, GPD
Officers responded to Cameo Court around 9:13 a.m. for a report of a two-vehicle collision, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. A 58-year-old man reportedly backed his 2011 pickup into a 2018 Ford passenger vehicle. The damage was estimated to be under $1,000. No citations were issued.
Vandalism, Dec. 26, North Highway 14-16, GPD
Movie theater staff called officers around 9:41 a.m. after discovering someone had written on a urinal stall and the front of the building with a white paint marker, Wasson said. The vandalism is believed to have occurred between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The cleanup costs were estimated at $150, and the investigation is ongoing.
Breach of peace, Dec. 26, 4-J Road, GPD
Officers responded to the Soup Kitchen on 4-J Road around 10:31 a.m. to investigate a breach of peace report, Wasson said. According to the report, a 31-year-old man shouted profanities at a 46-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy as they were entering the building. The man was cited for breach of peace and was issued a trespass notice from the Soup Kitchen.
Hit-and-run, Dec. 26, East Laramie Street, GPD
A 66-year-old man called the police at 1:24 p.m. to report finding a fence damaged at Bundy Avenue and East Laramie Street, Wasson said. An unknown vehicle reportedly collided with the fence between Christmas Eve and Dec. 26. The damage was estimated at $500, and the investigation is ongoing.
Crash, Dec. 26, 4th Street, GPD
Officers responded to the area of 4th Street and 4-J Road in the afternoon for a report of a single-vehicle crash, Wasson said. A 46-year-old woman reportedly lost control of her 2019 Buick and crashed into a parked 2013 Ford. No injuries were reported and the damage was estimated at under $1,000. She was warned for driving too fast for conditions.
Crash, Dec. 26, West 4th Street, GPD
A 41-year-old man reportedly lost control of his Nissan and struck a wheelchair ramp on West 4th Street around 5:52 p.m., Wasson said. The damage was estimated at over $1,000. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
