LARAMIE, Wyo. — At the end of a disappointing season for the Cowboys and after a selection to the All Mountain West First Team — the only Poke to do so — Wyoming wide receiver Tyler King has announced that he is entering the transfer portal.

King, currently a sophomore, transferred first to Wyoming from Texas Tech. Since coming to Laramie, he has received for 236 yards for an average of 13.9 yards per carry.

He also got 13 carries this season for a total rushing yardage of 100 yards, though one particularly long carry constitutes 54 of those yards. He scored two rushing touchdowns and one kick return touchdown.

Where King really stands out, however, are his kick returns, which is what earned him the Mountain West honor. He’s been one of the more outstanding performers for a struggling Cowboys offense this year, despite only playing for Wyoming one season.

King made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier today.

He is now the second to announce his departure from the University of Wyoming via the transfer portal thus far. Earlier this week, defensive tackle Jaden Williams made a similar post over Instagram.

With many departing seniors, including captains like Jordan Bertagnole and record scorers like John Hoyland, Wyoming will look like a different team next season. The university just announced 20 committed freshman that will come to play at Wyoming next year, however.
