GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette Community College District has officially submitted its eligibility filing to the Higher Learning Commission, marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of independent accreditation.
The filing, comprising nearly 4,000 pieces of evidence, follows the Letter of Intent submitted earlier this year, the district said in a news release.
“Achieving accreditation is a collaborative endeavor that requires sustained effort across all college departments. In anticipation of this submission, our deans and directors have worked tirelessly alongside faculty and staff to gather the essential evidence needed for this filing. Accreditation is a community effort, and once attained, it will be a shared triumph for everyone at Gillette College and the communities we serve,” GCC President Janell Oberlander said.
The district now awaits a Letter of Eligibility from the Higher Learning Commission, expected by February 2025. This letter will allow it to proceed to the next stage of the accreditation process.
While pursuing independent accreditation, Gillette College’s academic programs continue to operate under the accreditation of the Northern Wyoming Community College District (Sheridan College).
