GILLETTE, Wyo. — Children’s Developmental Services will get two new SUVs following Campbell County Board of Commissioners action Tuesday.
Despite a low bid of $42,063 per vehicle submitted by Fremont Motor of Casper, the Board of Commissioners, at the behest at Chairman Del Shelstad, opted to accept a bid of $42,227 per vehicle from Thunder Basin Ford of Gillette.
The move was made to support local spending.
The vehicles from Thunder Basin Ford are two 2025 Ford Explorer XLT four-wheel-drive SUVs. The vehicles from Fremont Motor were two 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo four-wheel-drive SUVs.
Shelstad posited that the difference of about $200 wasn’t enough to overcome the desire to spend the county’s money locally. The board supported a motion to buy from Thunder Basin Ford unanimously.
Per county documents, bids were advertised for three weeks after Nov. 12. Fremont Motor and Thunder Basin Ford submitted the only sealed bids the county received.
