GILLETTE, Wyo. — Dan Hart Patrol LLC, a local construction company, has been awarded the contract for the Allen Avenue Reconstruct and Drainage Project. The project, with a winning bid of $1,911,977.14, aims to improve infrastructure in the Allen Avenue area.
The project will involve replacing storm drains, water mains and sanitary sewer mains, as well as restoring streets. A key element of the project is addressing the existing concrete drainage channel, which requires frequent ice removal during winter months. The outdated channel will be replaced with a 42-inch underground storm pipe to mitigate this recurring issue, per city documents.
The project is fully funded by the fiscal year 2025 Optional 1% Tax Fund. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2025 and conclude by fall of the same year, barring any weather-related delays. Due to longer lead times for certain equipment, the project timeline extends through most of 2025.
Dan Hart Patrol was selected after a competitive bidding process, during which they presented the most cost-effective solution among three contractors, per city staff. Their bid came in significantly under the engineer’s estimate of $2,236,701.50 for the base project. The bid includes the base plus alternates 1 and 3.
Hot Iron LLC submitted the second cheapest bid at $1,922,506.69 for the same work, while Powder River Construction Inc. submitted a bid of $2,157,879.90.
