CASPER, Wyo. — One person is dead and two are injured after a single-vehicle crash near Douglas on Sunday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a GMC pickup was southbound on Interstate 25 near Douglas when the driver moved from the right lane into the left to pass a slower-moving vehicle.
According to the report, the driver lost control on the icy road surface, spinning counterclockwise and leaving the roadway into the median, where it tripped and rolled at least once before coming to a rest back on its wheels.
Wyoming resident and truck passenger Kayla Zacharias, 31, died in the crash, the report states. Two others are listed as injured. There is no additional information on their conditions.
Road conditions in the report are listed as wet, icy and snowy, and weather conditions are listed as snowing with blowing snow. A seat belt was not in use, the report stated, and speed is considered a contributing factor.
