C17 Crime Clips for Thursday. Nov. 21

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Nov. 20, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Property destruction, Nov. 20, Garner Lake Road, GPD

Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said officers were called to Garner Lake Road around 9:43 a.m. by a 42-year-old man who reported damage to his trailer. Someone reportedly accessed exterior storage compartments and attempted to pry open the door to the main area of the camper. Nothing was missing, and the damage was estimated at under $1,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft, Nov. 20, Delany Court, GPD

Officers responded to Delany Court around 1:12 p.m. after a 42-year-old man called to report suspected theft, Wasson said. The man said unknown suspects stole jewelry and a safe containing various legal documents. The jewelry was valued at $10,000, and the investigation is ongoing.

Assault, Nov. 20, Camel Drive, GPD

A 14-year-old boy was cited for assault after allegedly pushing another 14-year-old boy at Campbell County High School around 1:31 p.m., Wasson said. Officers were able to view surveillance footage of the alleged incident, which corroborated the initial report.

Assault, Nov. 20, Dogwood Avenue, GPD

Officers were dispatched to Dogwood Avenue around 5:34 p.m. for a report of a man pulling a knife during a disagreement, Wasson said. According to the report, a 36-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man went to a Dogwood Avenue residence to help a 33-year-old woman move. A 35-year-old man, the 33-year-old’s ex-boyfriend, showed up and started an argument. The 34-year-old claimed the 35-year-old pulled a knife from his waistband and tried to instigate a fight. The 35-year-old said he pulled the knife in self-defense, stating the 34-year-old acted like he was pulling a weapon. No charges were filed.

Drugs, Nov. 20, Kluver Road, GPD

Officers arrested a 35-year-old man for driving under the influence of a controlled substance after responding to a report of a suspected intoxicated driver on Kluver Road and Gurley Avenue around 6:06 p.m., Wasson said. The man displayed signs of drug use and was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. A sheriff’s office drug dog indicated on the vehicle, leading to the discovery of suspected meth and spice.

Theft, Nov. 20, West 8th Street, GPD

A 69-year-old man on West 8th Street called the police around 8:08 p.m. to report his guitar stolen, Wasson said. The man said the guitar — a $5,000 1946 Vintage — was taken between Nov. 18 and Nov. 20. There are no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
