Campbell County awards $222K in federal grant funds to combat poverty

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division, has awarded Campbell County a Community Services Block Grant of $232,177 to assist low-income individuals and families with activities and services that empower them to overcome the effects of poverty and achieve greater self-sufficiency.

The grant will be used to fund various services, including:

  • Employment assistance
  • Education and cognitive development
  • Income and asset building
  • Housing support
  • Health and social/behavioral development
  • Civic and community involvement

The county has mapped spending $222,281 of the grant with the following agencies:

  • Council of Community Services: $96,300
  • Personal Frontiers Inc.: $45,713
  • Gillette Reproductive Health: $34,664
  • Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation: $45,604

The grant is effective from Oct. 1, 2024, through Nov. 15, 2025. All grant funds must be spent by Sept. 30, 2025.  

The CSBG program is federally funded and provides assistance to low-income individuals and families. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Community Services.  

In Wyoming, the CSBG program is administered by the Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division. The program provides funding to eligible entities, such as Campbell County, to deliver services that help low-income individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.
