$89K L&H Alley reconstruction project complete; city votes to accept work Nov. 19

The Gillette City Council Chambers at City Hall (Ryan Lewallen/County 17)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Severely damaged surfacing, curb and gutter in front of L&H Industrial has been replaced, with the Gillette City Council voting to accept the work during its Nov. 19 meeting.

According to the city, the existing surfacing was only 4 inches thick and showed signs of distress from heavy traffic usage. The amount of damage prompted the city to spend $89,000 to replace it and help it withstand current traffic loading.

Per the city, the replacement project replaced the existing surfacing, curb and gutter surfaces with 8-inch concrete, which is better suited to handle the heavy truck and equipment loads in the area.

The project reportedly came in $9,331 lower than the allocated amount and was fully funded with the Optional 1% Sales Tax
