GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Nov. 13, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Theft, Nov. 13, Gillette Avenue, GPD
A 53-year-old man called the police at 7:45 a.m. to report his son, 24, stole his wallet and withdrew hundreds of dollars from his bank account, Gillette Police Capt. Kelly Alger said. The man said his wallet was taken while he went to the bathroom at a Gillette Avenue restaurant. Officers are waiting to review surveillance footage from the ATM where the money was withdrawn, and the investigation is ongoing.
Larceny, Nov. 13, Saunders Boulevard, GPD
A 22-year-old woman called the police from Thunder Basin High School to report her Beats headphones were stolen by a 17-year-old girl, Alger said. The headphones were valued at $75 and were found in the girl’s backpack. Officers cited the girl for larceny.
Property destruction, Nov. 13, South Douglas Highway, GPD
Officers responded to a restaurant on South Douglas Highway around 1:24 p.m. to investigate a property destruction report, Alger said. A 39-year-old woman reported someone broke the front door of the restaurant. The damage was estimated at $2,500 and occurred sometime after 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12. The investigation is ongoing.
Theft, Nov. 13, Arcadia Avenue, GPD
A 23-year-old man on Arcadia Avenue called the police around 2:05 p.m. upon discovering a former roommate made off with his PlayStation and diamond necklace, Alger said. The man told officers he recently moved a friend, a 19-year-old man, to Gillette from out of state. After a falling out, the 19-year-old left, allegedly with the items, valued at $500. The investigation is ongoing.
Threats, Nov. 13, Ranchero Drive, CCSO
Deputies were asked to be at a church in Wright during a Wednesday night service by the minister, a 52-year-old man, who expressed safety concerns due to a recent threat, Sheriff Scott Matheny said. According to the report, an upset 72-year-old man reportedly sent the minister a message saying he would go after him. In the end, the minister elected to cancel the evening service.
