GILLETTE, Wyo. — Dr. Jill Maschio, a psychology professor at Gillette College, has been named the recipient of the 2024 WyDec Innovative Educator of the Year Award.
This honor recognizes Maschio’s contributions to the field of psychology education and her commitment to innovative teaching methods, the college said in a news release.
Maschio’s academic background includes a doctorate in Psychology Education, a master’s in Clinical Psychology and an MBA. Her experience, spanning over 15 years, is coupled with a passion for engaging students in dynamic learning experiences.
Beyond her teaching role, Maschio is a published author of two books, “When Your Mind is Clear, the Sun Shines All The Time” and “Creating a Winning Online Course with Brain-Based Learning Strategies.” She also manages two influential psychology websites: psychologyofsingularity.com and evolvingintellect.com.
Maschio’s teaching techniques have garnered significant recognition. She uses resources like Gillette College’s Maker Space, Area 59, to encourage students to design and build games aimed at preventing neurodegenerative brain diseases, the release said. She has established a platform for her students to publish their work on the impact of artificial intelligence on humanity, demonstrating her commitment to incorporating cutting-edge topics into the curriculum.
“Dr. Maschio’s dedication to evolving educational methods and her proactive approach to curriculum development have set a new standard in psychology education,” the release said. “Her innovative spirit and commitment to student engagement truly exemplify the qualities deserving of this recognition.”
