GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette City Council gave its nod of approval to Amendment No. 18 to the Telecommunications Raceway Lease Agreement with Visionary Communications Inc. at its regular meeting Tuesday.
The amendment grants Visionary Communications access to additional fiber-optic raceway within the city’s existing infrastructure, city documents state.
The original lease agreement, signed in 2018, allows Visionary Communications to use the city’s raceway system to install fiber-optic cables for its customers. The amendment seeks to expand that access, further bolstering the city’s fiber-optic network.
Under the proposed amendment, Visionary Communications would pay a unit cost of $0.56121 per lineal foot, subject to a 3% annual increase for inflation. This is projected to generate an estimated $2,370 in additional annual lease revenue for the city.
All revenue generated from the agreement will be deposited into the City’s Fiber Fund No. 506.
