C17 Crime Clips for Thursday, Oct. 31

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Drugs, Oct. 30, Longmont Street, GPD

Officers responded to Longmont Street to conduct a welfare check on a 43-year-old man around 6:31 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The man was on probation and his probation officer responded while the man was being evaluated by emergency medical staff. A search of the man’s vehicle yielded three amphetamine pills. The man refused to submit to a urinalysis and was subsequently cited for drug possession.

DWUI, Oct. 30, East 3rd Street, GPD

A 39-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving after officers stopped her for failing to maintain a single lane of travel around 3:45 p.m. on East 3rd Street, Wasson said. The woman was operating a 2011 Dodge and admitted to consuming alcohol after officers observed her displaying symptoms of intoxication. She performed field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.

DWUI, Oct. 30, Boxelder Road, GPD

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 59 and Boxelder Road around 4:10 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash, Wasson said. A 43-year-old woman in a 2011 Jeep reportedly attempted to turn south onto Highway 59 from Boxelder Road when another Jeep ran a red light and crashed into her. The second Jeep was operated by a 73-year-old man who displayed signs of intoxication. After performing field sobriety tests, the man was taken into custody for impaired driving.

Crash, Oct. 30, Turnercrest Road, CCSO

Deputies responded to Turnercrest Road to investigate a reported semi-tractor crash around 6:36 p.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. A 61-year-old man was reportedly southbound on extremely muddy roads when he moved over to allow another truck to pass. The 61-year-old’s vehicle slid down a 30-foot embankment and overturned onto its roof. The man sustained a head laceration and a knee injury.
