CASPER, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette on Thursday and early Friday. This information was obtained through daily media conferences with personnel from the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
DWUI — 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 (CCSO)
A deputy clocked a red Dodge Avenger going 68 mph in a 45 mph zone from Warlow Drive onto Hannum Road, Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds told the media on Friday morning. After getting pulled over, the driver, a 20-year-old man, was asked to do field sobriety tests, and performed poorly, Reynolds said. His BAC at the jail was 0.13%.
Fraud — Thursday, Oct. 24 (GPD)
A 49-year-old man reported that after buying a $1,750 bow for his son from a business through Cash App, he was contacted by someone else asking for an additional $1,000 for “shipping insurance.” The man contacted the business, which claimed it wasn’t affiliated with whoever asked for that additional $1,000. The case is under investigation, according Gillette Police Department Deputy Chief Brent Wasson.
Voyeurism — 11:19 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 4300 block of Burtha Avenue (GPD)
Officers are looking for a known suspect after a 34-year-old woman reported “a known male outside her residence near her 12-year-old daughter’s window,” Wasson said. The man reportedly fled before officers arrived.
Tree Down — Thursday, Oct. 24 (GPD)
Around 3:11 p.m., a report came in of a tree down in the roadway on East Boxelder Road near Cliff Davis Drive. Officers observed signs that a vehicle or heavy equipment had brought it down. The city forestry division was called to remove it.
Criminal Trespass — 1:43 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, Stafford Bend (GPD)
A 20-year-old woman reported she was in her residence when her ex-boyfriend, whom she had previously trespassed, was knocking on her window. She told him to go away, and the man fled the area before officers’ arrival, Wasson said.
DUI — 2:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, Highway 59 and 3rd Street (GPD)
An officer pulled over a 2014 Ford for driving without headlights, Wasson said. The officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle, and the 27-year-old driver was arrested for DUI following his performance on field sobriety tests. He was also cited for no insurance and expired registration.
