GILLETTE, Wyo. — Above-average temperatures will persist through the weekend for northeast Wyoming.

While the next few days will be mostly dry, there’s a slight chance of showers Wednesday night through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota.

A cool front passing through the region today will bring a brief period of breezy conditions. This front will bring limited moisture, with a slight chance of light showers or sprinkles mainly confined to far-northwestern South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming.

Temperatures will reach a high of 53 today in Gillette, followed by a warmup on Wednesday as a short-lived ridge of high pressure builds over the area.

A stronger weather system will move in Wednesday night into Thursday, increasing the chance of light precipitation. The best chances for measurable rainfall will be over northeastern Wyoming, meteorologists said in the forecast discussion.

Looking to the weekend, a broad area of high pressure is expected to settle over the region, bringing a return to warmer and drier conditions.
