Cinco de Mayo, Big D Oil Co. secure liquor licenses in Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — After two separate public hearings, one Gillette restaurateur has a new liquor license and one retail liquor license was transferred.

Flores LLC, doing business as Cinco de Mayo, submitted an application for a new restaurant liquor license to the City Clerk’s Office on May 22. The clerk’s office then received the approved food license permit application on Sept. 6.

The license request came before the Gillette City Council on Monday after its approval by the Wyoming Liquor Division.

Cinco de Mayo’s license for 103 E. 3rd St. will expire on March 31, 2025, to match all Gillette liquor licenses, city documents state. Consideration for renewal must be submitted by February 2025.

The other liquor license, a retail liquor license, was held by Energy Lanes LLC. Big D Oil Co. sought the transfer from Energy Lanes’s 5700 S. Douglas Highway location to 2951 Dove Road.

Councilmember Heidi Gross questioned the concentration of liquor licenses in the Dove Road area. City Administrator Michael Cole said the concentration shouldn’t be a concern. Liquor licenses are limited to C1 zoned areas, which includes that area.

The council unanimously approved both items after no one spoke at the public hearings.
