Wanda Mae Butcher, beloved mother and wife, passed away on October 3,2024, in Casper Wyoming, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, dedication, and passion.

Born on May 13, 1940, in Gillette, Wyoming to William and Leona (Conley) Ellis, Wanda’s life was a testament to the joys of family, hard work, and the adventures that come with embracing each day.

Wanda attended Moorcroft High School where she met her life partner, Duane. The couple were married on October 13, 1957. Wanda, alongside, her cherished husband, Duane S. Together, they opened a carpet business that would flourish for 32 years, where they not only sold and installed carpets but created a space where customers felt valued and welcomed. Their partnership in business mirrored their strong bond in life, as they faced challenges and celebrated successes side by side, an embodiment of unwavering support and love for one another.

Wanda’s spirit was not confined to her career; she had a zest for life that shone brightly through her hobbies and interests. She adored traveling with Duane, creating beautiful memories as they explored new places, especially during the winters they spent in Arizona.

These adventures together were filled with laughter, joy, and the simple delight of experiencing the world hand in hand.

She is survived by her loving children: Steve (Silvia) Butcher and Debbie (Dennis) Meyers; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Dustin (Ashlie), Rhett Ryann Reese, Cody (Chelsea), Cash, Cooper, Charli Troy (Cindy) Bintlley, Keegan and Hayden; three step-grandchildren: Frank, Natasha, Misty and children, who carry forward the warmth and kindness that Wanda imparted throughout her life. They remember her as a guiding light, a source of strength, and an ever-encouraging presence who filled their lives with love and laughter.

Wanda was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Duane, who was not only her partner in life but also her closest friend. She also mourns the loss of her beloved parents, William and Leona Ellis and stepfather, Roy “Daddy” Thompson, whom all undoubtedly shaped the compassionate and vibrant spirit that Wanda carried into every interaction. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Joan McCoy, Marjorie Thompson, and Betty McNeff; her brothers, Jack and Frank Thompson, and Billy Ellis.

Though Wanda leaves this earthly realm, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her love for travel, her remarkable business acumen, and most importantly, her deep affection for her family will forever be cherished. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the wonderful life she lived. Wanda Mae Butcher’s memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew and loved her.
