C17 Crime Clips for Friday, Oct. 4

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Oct. 3, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Aggravated Assault, Oct. 4, West 8th Street, GPD

Officers responded to a residence on the 900 block of West 8th Street at 1:38 a.m. Friday after a caller reported a woman at the residence had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms. Officers provided first aid for the woman upon their arrival to the scene, and she was then transported to Campbell County Health for further treatment.

The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was no longer at the residence when police arrived. The nature of the relationship between the victim and suspect is unknown at this time. Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson confirmed to media Friday morning that the victim was in stable condition. Detectives were still on the scene and actively investigating the incident as of Friday morning.

DWUI, Oct. 3, mile marker 138, Interstate 90, CCSO

Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the eastbound side of Interstate 90 near mile marker 138 after dispatch received an iPhone crash detect alert in the area shortly after 11 p.m. Officers did not find any crashed or damaged vehicles in the area and requested dispatch redial the phone number that sent the alert. Upon redialing, a woman answered the phone before quickly hanging up. Deputies then located the vehicle, a red 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 truck, parked on Adon Road just off the interstate.

The truck was undamaged and running when deputies approached and made contact with the sole occupant, a 32-year-old woman. The woman was noticeably slurring her words and smelled of alcohol. She was arrested for DUI after failing a field sobriety test.

Driving Under Suspension, Oct. 3, Westover Road and Burma Avenue, GPD

Officers stopped a 2015 Ford near the intersection of Westover Road and South Burma Avenue for driving without headlights. While contacting the driver, a 26-year-old man, officers learned his license was suspended until March 2025 and cited him for driving under suspension.

Runaway, Oct. 3, South Douglas Highway, GPD

The GPD received a report of a runaway at 8:32 p.m. after a 17-year-old boy left his workplace on the 1900 block of South Douglas Highway before YES House staff, who were meant to pick him up, arrived after his shift. The boy was wearing a black jacket and pants at the time he left work. Officers have not yet found the boy.
