GILLETTE, Wyo. — Type 8 elk licenses are currently available, allowing hunters to help manage elk populations in specific hunt areas throughout the state, according to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Per a Sept. 30 release, Type 8 licenses are only valid for cow elk and address the challenges of over-abundant elk herds. The licenses aim to help reduce elk numbers to population objectives while providing flexibility to landowners affected by large elk herds.
Hunters may purchase an unlimited number of Type 8 licenses at a reduced price; however, they should review specific hunt area limitations, Game and Fish says, adding that some areas may have restrictions limiting activity to private land or outside national forests.
Purchasing information and additional information are available on the Game and Fish website.
