GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Sept. 25, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Theft, Sept. 25, Chandler Lane, CCSO
Deputies responded to Chandler Lane around 10:42 a.m. after a 49-year-old man called to report a tool theft, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The man said a previous employee, a 34-year-old man, stole $1,500 in tools over the past four months and had recently moved to Denver, Colorado. The 49-year-old will supply deputies with a detailed list of the stolen tools, and the investigation is ongoing.
Trespassing, Sept. 25, South Douglas Highway, GPD
Officers responded to a dollar store on South Douglas Highway at the request of a 37-year-old woman, an employee, who wanted two patrons trespassed, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The woman suspected a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl had shoplifted, and officers issued them trespass notices.
Animal bite, Sept. 25, Butler Spaeth Road, GPD
A 65-year-old man was reportedly bitten by his cat at a local veterinarian’s office, Wasson said. The man was bitten on his forearm after accidentally pinching the cat while picking it up from a scale. He sustained four punctures, and the cat was allowed to quarantine at home.
Unattended death, Sept. 25, North Highway 14-16, GPD
A 43-year-old man called for emergency help after finding his 83-year-old father unresponsive in a shop on North Highway 14-16 around 4:01 p.m., Wasson said. Life-saving measures were attempted, but the 83-year-old man was ultimately pronounced deceased. The investigation is ongoing.
Theft, Sept. 26, East 8th Street, GPD
Officers responded to East 8th Street after a 43-year-old woman called to report a 64-year-old man fired a pellet gun at her around 3:22 a.m., Wasson said. The woman claimed she heard a ricochet but didn’t see a pellet, and the man denied owning a pellet gun. During the investigation, however, the 64-year-old man told officers the 43-year-old woman stole his 40cc scooter and provided conversation records regarding the scooter. The woman said she had the scooter stored away and was avoiding the man. She was cited for theft.
