GILLETTE, Wyo. — Three candidates seeking a seat on the Gillette City Council will appear for a Town Hall in late September, according to an event announcement sent to County 17.

Per the announcement, Jack Clary, Chris Smith and Pat Collins will appear for the Town Hall, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Campbell County Senior Center, 701 Stocktrail Ave.

Clary is seeking a seat as a representative of Ward 2 and is a longtime Gillette resident, having called the community home for more than 25 years. He is running out of a desire to curb what he sees as runaway spending and to push for wise use of taxpayer dollars.

Smith is running to represent Ward 1 out of frustration with what he claims is a government that prospers while continuing to ask for more. He says the families of Gillette struggle to pay for food, electricity and life. He hopes to push for attainable goals that align with the people of Gillette should he win his bid.

Collins, a South Dakota native, is a salon owner who is active in her church, serving two ministries. She is running to represent Ward 3 to reign in unnecessary spending like beautification projects she feels are often left to deteriorate. She also wishes to align the Optional 1% Sales Tax with its original intent and wants large projects put on the ballot for the citizens to vote on.
