GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 22-year-old man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly throwing an egg at a deputy and kicking off a high-speed pursuit that ended on Northern Drive, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.
According to Reynolds, the 22-year-old was astride a Kawasaki motorcycle when he passed a deputy conducting a traffic stop on another vehicle near North Highway 14-16 and 4th Avenue. The man threw an egg at the deputy and fled at a high rate of speed.
A second deputy in the area located the man and attempted a traffic stop; however, the 22-year-old fled again onto Glock Avenue and continued to Southern Drive, Reynolds said.
According to the report, the motorcycle drove off the roadway into a drainage ditch, and was followed by a pursuing deputy. Both vehicles crashed, resulting in over $1,000 in damage to a Campbell County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit and no injuries.
Reynolds said the 22-year-old fled the crash on foot. Deputies gave chase and shocked the man with a Taser before they were able to take him into custody.
According to arrest records, the man was charged with two counts of interference, reckless driving, reckless endangering, speeding, eluding and driving without insurance.
Correction 9/23/2024: A previous story incorrectly stated where the pursuit ended. The pursuit ended on Southern Drive.
