GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Sept. 19, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Animal Problem, Sept. 19, Lawver Road, CCSO
A 54-year-old woman called to report that a dog in the neighborhood had eaten a chicken belonging to her neighbor on Lawver Road north of Wright on Thursday. After speaking to residents in the area, an Anatolian Shepherd-Kangal mix named Tank was determined to be responsible. He was located and taken to the Animal Control in Gillette. His owner, a 49-year-old man, was contacted and came to retrieve the dog, paying the required fees to the city in the process. The incident report did not specify if the dog owner and the neighbor who lost the chicken had made any agreement to compensate for the loss, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.
Agency Assist, Sept. 20, Fireside Lounge, CCSO and GPD
Deputies responded to reports of an altercation at the Fireside Lounge at 12:45 a.m.. Upon arriving, a group of people in the establishment’s north parking lot told deputies that two friends in the group had been arguing and that one friend had fallen down, but reports differed as to whether they had been pushed. GPD officers also arrived on scene shortly thereafter and took control of the case. No charges are being sought at this time.
Destruction of Property, Sept. 19, Dogwood Avenue, GPD
A 62-year-old man contacted the Gillette Police Department after a neighbor notified him that a teenager waiting for the bus Thursday morning had climbed a tree in the man’s front yard on the 2300 block of Dogwood Avenue, damaging branches in the process. Officers met with the teen and his stepmother, 44, regarding the incident. The teen, a 15-year-old boy, denied any wrongdoing on his part but offered to wait for the bus on the opposite side of the street from the tree in question going forward.
